During flu season it is a good idea to book in so you secure an appointment that suits you. Bookings are available now to make for the 2021 influenza vaccination.
Feel free to make a booking or drop in when it suits. Eligible patients are free of charge, $30 fee applies to those outside this criteria.
Influenza, commonly called the flu, can be a serious illness that is sometimes fatal. Infection with the flu virus may lead to a stay in hospital for any age group but particularly if you are elderly or have an ongoing medical condition. Flu can make an existing medical condition, such as asthma or diabetes, a lot worse. Those with heart conditions can become more likely to have a cardiac event if they contract the flu.
People aged 65 years and over, pregnant women and those aged between 13-65 years with an eligible chronic medical condition qualify for a FREE flu vaccine.

Ngatea Pharmacy are now offering free Boostrix® shots to women who are pregnant (after the first Trimester). It is recommended to be given in every pregnancy.
If you are over 45 or 65 and are due for a free Whooping Cough Booster, and have grandchildren (or grandchildren on the way!) that you want to reduce the chances of whooping cough exposure, it is a great idea to get your Whooping Cough Vaccine again, your immunity wanes with age, so a little tickly cough for you may have disastarous results for infants who contract it.
Household contacts, other parents and grandparents outside of these criteria incur a charge of $45 per vaccination
