Medicine Use Review Services

Many people are on alot of medications, these can become confusing and hard to understand, or even just hard to remember what they are all for!

A Medicine Use Review is an incredibly helpful service that allows you to sit down with a pharmacist and talk about your medicines and make sure you are getting maximum benefit from them. Pharmacists have a huge amount of knowlege (its all they do!) and can really have an impact on your day to day medication management.

You might benefit from this service if you:

• Take a lot of different medicines
• Sometimes forget to take your medicines
• Are not sure why you take some of your medicines
• Think your medicines are not working for you
• Think your medicines might be causing unwanted side effects

You will receive personalised support to:

• Learn more about your medicines and why you take them
• Learn more about how your medicines work
• Check you are taking your medicines correctly
• Ensure that your medicines are working properly and are not causing unwanted side effects
• Get help with how to use medical devices e.g. inhalers, spacers, eye drops, blister packs, testing kits / meters
• Get help with remembering how and when to take your medicine
• Reassure yourself and your family / whanau that you are taking your medicines correctly
• Ensure you are getting the best from your medicines

Our Pharmacists will also help you identify any other services that are available and that may be beneficial to you.

These consultations can often be done at your house if mobility is an issue, family members are welcome with your permission.

Consultations are free of charge in most cases, You can also nominate a family member who you think may benefit from this service. If outside the criteria, a $75 fee applies.
